Eutectic fatty acids (EFA) microcapsules are synthesized in micro range by wrapping EFA particles with various polymer shells to function as natural thermal regulator by absorbing heat from surrounding and release heat to surrounding during their phase change. Despite EFA’s abundance, low cost, and cleanliness to environment, they exhibit low thermal conductivity. Graphene - a high thermal conductivity carbon-based material, is embedded into EFA microcapsules by forming nanocomposite graphene-polymer shell around EFA particles, to improve the encapsulation efficiency and overall thermal conductivity of microcapsules. This research may contribute to the advancement in energy efficient technologies for commercial buildings.
