Maria Alexandris investigated the role of connectedness in supporting young people’s housing security. She found that young people in insecure housing often had social networks comprised of fragmented relationships that resulted in disrupted access to the resources that could support housing. Promoting connectedness could be useful for supporting the housing security of insecurely housed young people and may be achieved by strengthening existing family relationships and by introducing new relationships to social networks. Interventions that seek to address insecure housing would benefit from incorporating connectedness into their designs. Service-workers should be adequately trained and supported to assist the connectedness process.
