A Prospective Study to Assess The Role of Interleukin-38 in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

thesis
posted on 2021-06-04, 08:23 authored by MANJEET KAUR SANDHU
This thesis examines the role of Interleukin-38 in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a gastrointestinal condition that impacts patient's quality of life. Interleukin-38 is a new molecule in its early research phase. In my thesis, I found that there is an increase in the level of Interleukin-38 in the gut of IBD patients. This increase in Interleukin-38 may reduce gut inflammation in these patients and improve their symptoms. This work is important as it sets the scene for future research to ultimately address the question: Is there a potential role for Interleukin-38 as a therapy in IBD patients?
