Failures in the urban rail system cause cancellations and delays in train services that adversely affect many passengers and rail companies. To improve the reliability of the train service, a better maintenance process has been developed in this research. The new process includes an improved approach for the reliability analysis used to characterise the train performance and a new model used to select the best maintenance strategies.
