Tunable LED luminaires can change their light spectrums, which can be used to influence the human circadian clock in a beneficial way. Research has been done on optimal lighting schedules for this purpose, but there are no commercially available controllers focused on circadian health. This thesis provides a framework for a smart, modular lighting control system to control any type of tunable luminaire using the latest The International Commission on Illumination (CIE) standard metrics, entailing a characterization process to map luminaire control schemes to standards and control algorithms, intended to bring these benefits from research to the real world.
