Cyber-Physical System (CPS) is the seamless integration of physical systems with a computational core across a network. CPS design principles can be applied to build systems for many domains, such as manufacturing, medical, and transportation. Existing CPS design frameworks are domain-specific and unable to integrate multi-domain systems, limiting application functionality, and scalability. Hence, this research study proposed and developed a generic, four-layered, functional architecture based CPS design framework. The two CPS prototypes developed - for Intelligent Transportation and Manufacturing domains- verify and validate the features and requirements.
