In response to the 12th Malaysia Plan’s priorities of digitalization and small and medium enterprises’ (SMEs) growth, this research project investigated how to improve Big Data Analytics (BDA) adoption among Malaysian plastics manufacturing SMEs. Top management support was identified as the single most crucial influencing factor in unlocking BDA adoption among these manufacturers. Additionally, five factors influenced top management favorably towards BDA: financial benefits, sufficient resources, pertinent BDA knowledge, a widespread knowledge-sharing culture, and relevant external support. Based on these findings, a BDA adoption decision-making framework and associated recommendations were proposed to improve BDA adoption rates among these manufacturers.
