In Australia, kidney cancer is considered the 9th most common cancer. The standard of care for managing kidney cancer is surgery or similarly invasive, thermal-ablative procedures. Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) can be used as a non-invasive modality to treat kidney cancers using high-dose, high-precision radiation. This thesis demonstrates the safe and practical use of SBRT. The themes explored include minimising kidney motion for treatment, computer-modeling the radiation in the body to minimise treatment-related toxicities, and directly before treatment, accurately guiding the radiation to the tumour.
