2D Functionalized Nanosheets: From Scalable Exfoliation to Applications

thesis
posted on 2023-04-17, 02:26 authored by ZHUYUAN WANG
This thesis presents a protocol for the scalable production of high-quality 2D nanosheets. The process involves a comprehensive literature review on existing technologies for scalable production of 2D materials, followed by a study of using high-viscosity polyethyleneimine (PEI) assisted ball-milling exfoliation to achieve scalable production of monolayer graphene. The sticky milling method has also demonstrated its high exfoliation efficiency towards other different layered materials including traditional dense crystals and porous synthetic frameworks. After obtaining the nanosheets, an interesting application in the field of energy harvesting was demonstrated by designing a nanosheet-Polymer-Hydrogel (NPH) composite generator that can harvest energy from CO2 adsorption to achieve carbon adsorption and energy acquisition simultaneously.
