Despite significant law reform activity internationally and debate within Australia, there is limited evidence to suggest that more law in this area will improve justice responses for victims and/or enhance perpetrator accountability. Our submission to the Queensland Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce provides a response to the Taskforce’s first report Hear her Voice and the overarching themes set out for this stage of the consultation, and urges the Taskforce to reconsider its recommendation for the introduction of a stand-alone offence of coercive control in Queensland.
The submission makes 7 recommendations to the Taskforce.
