This report evaluates the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC)-brokered National Workforce Development Fund (NWDF) training. It represents about 10% of all training funded under the NWDF program.
The NWDF was an Australian Government program from 2011 to 2014 to encourage formal training among the existing workforce under a cost-sharing arrangement with employers. The objective was to assist firms to increase their workforce capacity by providing existing and new workers opportunities to enhance their skills through formal training and to increase the supply of labour and skills in sectors and occupations where there were current or emerging skills needs.
The report uses data on the National Workforce Development Fund (NWDF) training provided by the Transport and Logistics Industry Council (TLISC) to describe the workers and firms who participated in the program, the qualifications that were undertaken, and the providers who delivered the training. The research also investigates how the cost (total amount paid to the training provider, including both government and employer contributions) for a qualification varies by several individual, job, qualification, training provider, and firm characteristics. In particular, it investigates how firm size affects the cost of training.
