Her Honour discusses the treatment of female prisoners throughout history, noting the legislative changes implemented by Sir Robert Peel and the actions of Elizabeth Fry and Dame Phyllis Frost. Her Honour also discusses the impact of femininity on sentencing in modern courts and the circumstantial factors which distinguish females from males within the criminal justice system.
