Her Honour discusses the history of Women’s Gaols and cites statistics about the amount of women imprisoned in Australia and Victoria. Her Honour explains how femininity factors into sentencing and outlines circumstantial factors which distinguish females from males in the criminal justice system. Her Honour explains why special consideration should be afforded to female Aboriginal prisoners who are frequently subjected to domestic violence. Her Honour also discusses various initiatives that have been introduced to support women charged with criminal offences such as: The Women and Mentoring Program.
