Personalising heart failure therapy

Heart failure (HF) is a complex and serious condition that impacts the lives of tens of millions of people around the world. A number different treatment options are available for this condition including a class of medication known as mineralocorticoid receptor blockers (MRBs), which block a specific receptor involved in HF. Unfortunately, these MRBs can cause dangerous side effects, and since HF is a highly variable condition, not all patients benefit from this medication.
My research aims to develop a simple blood test to determine which patients will respond well to this medication so that we can offer personalised HF therapy and avoid potential side effects.
