Excessive gestational weight gain and postpartum weight retention are major contributory factors to obesity in women of reproductive age. Healthy diet and adequate physical activity can help prevent postpartum weight retention in women. Postpartum women are faced with barriers to adopting a healthy lifestyle postpartum including time constraints, childcare needs and lack of social support. My research aims to co-design a lifestyle intervention for postpartum women to help overcome these barriers leading to a healthy postpartum lifestyle and thus reducing postpartum weight retention and consequently obesity.
