Future Housing in Vanuatu
Housing issues across Vanuatu are widespread, with many people living in unsound dwellings. Adequate housing, including cultural adequacy, is a fundamental human right: The links between poor housing and health and social outcomes are well known. This research explores how an interactive creative design process that prioritises an indigenous perspective can contribute to appropriate, long-term housing in Vanuatu as a precedent of place-specific design research for other Pacific Island countries.
