Heart disease is a leading cause of death worldwide, and for people with diabetes, the risk doubles. My PhD research aims to improve heart disease prevention among individuals with diabetes by combining advanced CT imaging and genetic testing. We provide patients with vivid images of their heart vessels and use polygenic risk scores to identify potential threats early. Coupled with a year-long nurse-led health coaching program, this approach helps patients create actionable, personalised health plans. By making health risks tangible and integrating proactive care, we empower patients to adopt sustainable lifestyle changes, potentially transforming heart disease prevention for those with diabetes.
