Beyond Bourke Street - Melbourne Buskers in the Digital World

Melbourne, self-proclaimed as the ‘live music capital of the world’, also presents a solid music scene on the streets. My research demonstrates the global nature of the streets of Melbourne as a site of both local and “translocal” interconnections, and how buskers are connected through the interplay of technology, fans and viewers. Offline music acts shared online by an audience turned into content producers.
