Piglet scours is a concerning and costly health issue in Australian piggeries. An increasing number of neonatal pigs are affected, leading to decreased productivity on farms. Of more than 250 pig farms in Victoria, several scours-affected farms are unable to identify the causative agent. Thus, the aim of this study was to employ microbiome shotgun metagenomic sequencing and cell culturing to identify potential bacterial pathogens associated with piglet scours on farms where the causative agent remains undetermined
