Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. Developing heart patches using synthetic polymers to treat the heart diseases remains a challenging task for the scientific community. Important requirements for an ideal cardiac patch are triggering alignment and synchronous beating of heart cells. In my thesis, we are using 3D printing and then geometrically stimulate heart cells to align and beat synchronously to result in an effective cardiac patch.
