<div><div><div><p>This submission has been prepared by members of the Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre (MGFVPC).</p><p><br></p><p>Our submission provides a response to the Government’s Discussion Paper. It is structured into five main sections:</p><p><br></p><ol><li><p>Defining and understanding what constitutes coercive control</p></li><li><p>Coercive control as a key risk factor prior to intimate partner femicide</p></li><li><p>The suitability of existing legal frameworks in New South Wales</p></li><li><p>How we can best address coercive control.</p></li><li><p>A whole of system responses to coercive control</p></li></ol><p>Our submission makes 10 recommendations to the Committee.</p><p><br></p><p>The submission also provides summary details of current research led by MGFVPC researchers to improve understandings of, and responses to coercive and controlling behaviours.</p></div></div></div>
