In 2025, Professor Claes Tingvall was appointed an Emeritus Professor of Monash University in recognition of distinguished academic service, and a testament to his immense contributions to traffic safety and injury prevention. Professor Tingvall is renowned for his work on the Vision Zero initiative, the Global Safety Footprint, and his involvement in the creation of the road safety ISO certification, ISO 39001.
His expertise has been instrumental in shaping global traffic safety standards and fostering strong collaborations between Australia and Sweden. Having been involved with MUARC since his Directorship (1998-2001), Professor Tingvall has continued to contribute as an Adjunct Professor, collaborating on research projects and mentoring staff. His extensive leadership and deep knowledge continue to inspire our work, and we are honoured to have him as part of our community.
