Notes:


'Born 1936, enlisted in Irish army in 1952, learns drumming and war pipes. Involved in CCE when it forms inn Ireland in 1950s. Emigrated first to England, living in Leeds, emigrates to Australia in 1969. Plays many instruments, including B/C accordion, mandolin, banjo, mouth organ, bodhran. Involved in Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann (CCE) in Melbourne from its formation. Close musical associate and performer with Paddy Fitzgerald in his bands. Father of Anthony O’Neill, prominent and highly skilled player in various Irish and folk groups from 1980s onwards.'
