Videos of Margaret Kartomi and Karen Kartomi Thomas' field trip to Lampung, 7-11 December 2011. Contents (with corresponding filenames) according to notes as follows:



7 Dec. Bandar Lampung: Lampung Province’s National Teacher Day (‘Let us create professional, prosperous and protected teachers to improve the quality of education’ was the slogan on the banner above the stage). Filenames ending 001-002, 007-011. Filenames ending 003-006: Margaret Kartomi giving a talk about gamolan and its link to Borobodur.
8 Dec. Bandar Lampung: Adok (customary titles), presented to Margaret Kartomi and daughter Karen Kartomi Thomas by Council of Adat Elders of Lampung (Majelis Penyimbang Adat Lampung) and Lampung Provincial Government at the World Record event for longest continuous performance of gamolan (bamboo xylophone). Filenames ending 012 to 107.
9 Dec. Bandar Lampung: Gamolan performance at Margaret Kartomi's lecture on ethnomusicology. Filenames ending 108 to 110.
10 Dec. Bandar Lampung. Margaret Kartomi interviewing singer of pisaan about Margaret's receiving the Adok at ceremony. Filenames ending: 111 to 112.
10 Dec. Bandar Lampung. Hadrah and Tari Bedana performed by Sanggar Seni Budaya Lampung “Angon Saka” chaired by and in the home of Bp Syarifudin Iskandar Gelar Raja Bangsawan on campus of SD Setiabudi in Teluk Betung, Bandar Lampung. They used a solo gambus, 2 sizes of rebana, some with jingles, and a set of 4 marwas which were played loudly (taktim) at ends of sections. Filenames ending: 113 to 117.
10 Dec. Bandar Lampung. Margaret Kartomi in the Governor of Lampung’s house. Filenames ending: 118 to 119.
11 Dec. Bandar Lampung. Margaret Kartomi in hotel room testing the pitches of an old gamolan lent to her by Hasyimkan. Filename ending: 120.
11 Dec. Bandar Lampung. Hadrah performed by group led by Abdul Karim with the title Pangeran Laksamana; the instruments played are rebanas (called tarbangan in this area); they sang dikir lama (traditional) songs used for weddings and circumcisions with texts read from the Bersanji/Hadra book in Arabic, and dikir baru (new) songs. Filenames ending: 121 to 122.
