First, through Ralph Fiennes’ 2011 critically-acclaimed cinema adaptation; and, more recently, through the hugely successful Donmar Warehouse production, featuring Tom Hiddleston in the title role, which has since been made accessible to international audiences through the engaging
NT Live film of the stage performance. Almost as significant, perhaps, is the release of the Arden Third Series edition of the play, which seems similarly poised to counter the poor reputation the play has gained in both theatrical and literary circles by presenting it as an approachable and compelling
reading experience.
