Despite research on pay and the system that determines it, a lot remains relatively unknown about the subject. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss some of the factors that can influence employees' attitudes to pay systems. Another aim of the paper is to highlight the implications of the literature reviewed.. The paper is divided into three sections. Section one deals with theories and ideas pertaining to employees' attitudes to pay systems. Section two discusses factors that can be important in explaining employees preference for pay systems. The final section highlights some implications for research and practice.
