The former Labor government's new policy on the temporary entry of key business personnel involves unprecedented levels of deregulation. From July 1996, individual firms will have greatly increased rights to employ foreign nationals in Australia. Provisions for monitoring the effects of this policy are inadequate. The employment rights of Australians will depend on employers' willingness to behave as good corporate citizens. Copyright. Monash University and the author/s
