The current study examines self-employment as a career option for unemployed workers seeking reemployment. Although research has been conducted concerning the conditions which affect the likelihood of re-employment, little attention has been paid to redundant workers who establish their own businesses. The current study addresses this deficiency. Although age is a barrier to re-employment for older workers, the results of the current study indicate that age is not a handicap for self-employment. Practical implications of the results are discussed.
