Blanchot announces a primal apocalypse, a hecatomb, bequeathed by language. What is to be done when every sentence is a pronouncement, or rather proclamation of L’arrêt de mort, on that “prior presence that I must exclude in order to speak, in order to speak it?” (IC 36).
