This project is an attempt to identify the personal and professional training needs of Quality Managers. It has been presumed that training is the single most important factor in improving quality, once commitment is present. This study investigates if Quality training is objectively, systematically, and continuously performed in Australia, and if so, by whom. The primary aim of the research is to explore whether their organisations or appropriate professional bodies are fulfilling the training needs of quality managers. Such a study is conspicuous by its absence. It is an area that has been overlooked in the push for competitive advantage but a thorough understanding of the personal and professional development needs of managers is crucial for successful implementation of quality management.
