Perceptions of suburban life in Sydney and Melbourne

Australian cities are suburban and many writers are critical of this. But the suburbs are not homogeneous: there are outer, middle and inner suburbs. When choosing a place to live in our cities, people tend to trade disadvantages off against advantage.
