The establishment of a Pilot Case Management Service for People with Non-Compensable Acquired Brain Impairment was one of the major recommendations arising from the Head Injury Impact Project’s ‘Head Injury Services Plan’ (1991). It was operationalised by the Ministerial Implementation Committee on Head Injury with three years of funding from a Transport Accident Commission grant (till August 1996). An evaluation of the Pilot Case Management Service for People with Non-Compensable Acquired Brain Impairment was part of the original specification for the establishment of the Service. This document presents a report of the evaluation. The broad purposes of the evaluation were to determine whether, and to what extent, the Service fulfilled its brief; identify and document what was learned from the pilot; and determine if case management is of value to this client group, and if so, make recommendations regarding its future provision.
