Environmental management systems implementation: some experiences of Australian auditors

In recent years there has been rapid growth globally in the number of organisations that have adopted and implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS). This paper presents the experiences of eight leading Auditors with respect to the adoption of EMS/ ISO 14000. The benefits perceived by organisations from adopting an EMS/ ISO 14000 and issues relating to the auditing process are discussed.
