Employment systems and practices in China's industrial sector during and after Mao's regime

This article reviews the employment system during and after Mao's regime, and reports the results of a recent survey of employment practices in Chinese industrial enterprises. The research findings indicate a series of changes in hiring practices since the economic reforms in China. The implications of these employment reforms for MNEs are discussed.
