The literature on the relationship between per capita income and life satisfaction indicates there is only marginal correlation between the two. This article explores measures of life satisfaction amongst persons aged 60+ in China and Australia where there is a vast gulf in per capita income. On most of the measures examined, the Chinese indicate similar levels of life satisfaction to their richer Australian counterparts. Copyright. Monash University and the author/s
