Taken during October 1969 this ritual shows the Tibetan monks at Svayambhunath temple in Kathmandu at an end-of-year ceremony burning an effigy representing the previous year's bad luck. The procession left the temple with the effigy (shown in the temple and being burned) and removed it to a nearby hill where the burning occurred.
