Intake24-AUS Food List

<p dir="ltr">The Intake24-AUS Food List has been developed to support the implementation of the Intake24 dietary recall system in Australia. This food list integrates and adapts foods from both the Australian <a href="https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/science-data/food-composition-databases/ausnut" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">AUSNUT 2011–13 food composition database</a> and the original UK Intake24 food list.</p><p dir="ltr">The development process involved:</p><ul><li>Mapping and aligning AUSNUT 2011–13 food codes and descriptions with the structure and categories used in the UK Intake24 food list</li><li>Ensuring compatibility with the portion size estimation and food entry logic used in Intake24</li><li>Photographing packaged foods and capturing as served images to support portion size estimation</li><li>Incorporating culturally relevant foods commonly consumed in Australia based on the most commonly consumed foods from 2011-13 Australian Health Survey (AHS), iterative user testing and data collection with young adults in Australia</li></ul><p dir="ltr">This food list enables the collection of standardised 24-hour dietary recalls and is suitable for use in research, surveillance, and intervention studies.</p><p dir="ltr">Included in this dataset:</p><ul><li>Excel file: <i>Intake24-AUS Food List</i></li><li>PDF: <i>Presentation slides from the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) Congress, Tokyo, December 2022</i>, outlining the development, validation, and future directions of Intake24-AUS</li></ul><p dir="ltr">For the most up-to-date version of the Intake24 system, toolkit for localisation and supporting resources, please visit <a href="https://intake24.com/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://intake24.com/</a> </p><p dir="ltr">If you would like to use Intake24 in your research or are interested in adapting the system for your country, please get in touch: <a href="mailto:support@intake24.com" target="_blank">support@intake24.com</a></p><p dir="ltr">This resource may be updated as new Australian food composition data become available or as Intake24-AUS functionality evolves.</p>
