Data and tables accompanying "Inferring system parameters from the bursts of the accretion-powered pulsar IGR J17498–2921" by Galloway et al. (2024), submitted to MNRAS

The data files encompass analysis of thermonuclear bursts from two millisecond pulsars, SAX J1808.4-3658 and IGR J17498–2921, with the beansp Python package. The code is available at Github, https://github.com/adellej/beans; and also via PyPI. A snapshot of the code used to generate the results for the paper is stored here as beans-2.25.0.tar.

Below we describe each of the files for each source.

SAX J1808.4-3658

  • 1808_obs.txt - 3-25 keV persistent flux measurements during the 2002 outburst
  • 1808_bursts.txt - burst parameters from the 2002 outburst
  • 1808_base.ini - beansp parameter file to run the MCMC chains for the "base" run
  • 1808_base_10k.p - base run posterior samples
  • 1808_base_parameterconstraints.txt – parameter summary as listed in Table 2
  • table1.mrt - machine-readable format file including measured and inferred burst parameters

IGR J17498–2921

  • 17498_obs_falanga12.txt - 0.1-300 keV persistent flux measurements during the 2011 outburst
  • 17498_bursts_8.txt - bursts observed during the 2011 outburst
  • 17498_base22p.ini - beansp parameter file to run the MCMC chains for the "base" run
  • 17498_base22p_10k.p - base run posterior samples
  • 17498_base22p_parameterconstraints.txt – parameter summary as listed in Table 2
  • table3.mrt - machine-readable format file including measured and inferred burst parameters
