The internet as an information management technology: new tools, new paradigms and new problems

This paper briefly discusses the development of information management technologies to the present day. It then considers the development of the worldwide Internet as an evolving technology for managing information. The implication of some current trends on the Internet are discussed, with a focus on new tools, new paradigms for working with information, and some of the new problems this brings.
