These are the materials for a composition by Cat Hope entitled 'Nomadic Subjects', written for a telematic performance at Ars Electronica in 2020.
You can play from the video or a .dsz score on coordinated iPads.
Designed for 6 players, 2 vision mixers, movement and audio file for 'treatment'
Nomadic Subjects” is the title of a 2011 book by Rosi Braidotti. There is a line in there, which I relate to music representation: “points of transition across the multiple geographical, ethnic, and linguistic dividing lines: they never sit still, but rather shift with incredible violence”(p31)
The piece can be performed on networked iPads over the Internet, and a max patch is provided to enable the flashing and audio file playback. Otherwise, all performers can read from a 'movie' version of the score. A set of instructions is provided to assist with reading the score.
