Blackout Diary is a real-time score about self-censorship and masking. The composer reveals pages of her diary, causing spatialised electronic audio to be revealed. The electric guitarist interprets the projected stream of the composer's hands as a live graphic score. This is the first version of the work, leading to the development of the experimental opera Knots that Bind.

The work was written during a professional development period at the Hochschule für Musik und Theatre Hamburg in 2023 and premiered by Jaslyn Robertson and Danica Hobden in the multimedia composition showcase concert Room for Error. Jaslyn's professional development was supported by an Ian Potter Foundation Emerging Artist Grant and Monash Graduate Research Office Travel Grant.
