The Diagnostic and Therapeutic Development of Molecular Agents for Inflammation and Thrombosis

Inflammation is the body’s physiological response to minimise deleterious impact of injury or infection. However, uncontrolled inflammatory processes can be detrimental and contribute to inflammatory diseases. Inflammatory pathways also cross-talk with coagulation pathways and can increase the risk of thrombosis. As such, inflammation and thrombosis remain to be a major cause of morbidity and mortality, despite much improvement in the understanding of these diseases and drug development over the last 3 decades. My PhD project aims to develop safe and effective molecular agents that target different components of inflammatory and coagulation pathways for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
