Selective Removal of Alkali and Alkaline Earth Metals from Low-Rank Xinjiang Coal

This thesis is to upgrade low-rank coal to high-quality thermal fuel that can be burnt at high-efficiency and low-emission for power generation, via leaching out the troublesome alkali and alkaline earth metals to reduce its fouling propensity. It gives a good contribution to the understanding of both recyclabilities of leaching reagents and chloride waste treatment in an efficient and environmentally-benign manner. Apart from intensive experimental investigations, underpinning mechanisms are explored via model development or/and atomic structure analyses.
