Musical performances which involve school ensembles and music ensembles outside of the school community require a process of collaboration which can be beneficial to students, teachers and the community. Among these implications are several factors for specific exploration, including: personal and group social identity, life-long learning, developmental factors for school Music programmes, and intergenerational understanding. This study aims to investigate the implications of collaborative performance projects between school music ensembles and music ensembles from outside of the school community.
