Regulation of Clec16A by the RING E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF41

thesis
posted on 2019-10-09, 04:32 authored by CARLOS GABLE
Clec16A is an essential cell protein that can regulate insulin secretion, immune cell processes and neurological functions. We discovered that the Clec16A protein can be regulated by another protein RNF41. Indeed, RNF41 interacts with and tags Clec16A for destruction. We have unravelled the pathway that underpins this regulation, and identified further proteins that are involved in this critical process. Understanding this novel pathway will facilitate a deeper understanding of important diseases such as cancer and inflammation.
