Across a body of visual work consisting of three installation pieces, and in the accompanying Masters exegesis, I formulate an investigation why individuals enjoy the pleasures of running and competing in Fun Run events. I have drawn inspiration for this investigation through my own experiences as a runner competing at state level and training with runners from recreational to national level. I examine and discuss the work of Walter Benjamin, Paul Pfeiffer, Gabriel Orozco, Douglas Gordon, Philippe Parreno and sporting companies 'Sporting Images Australia' and 'Nike.' Using quotes from athletes, theorists, artists and accounts from my own experience, I propose the Fun Run being developed to allow individuals to unite together and achieve a common goal whilst providing them with snapshot images of this triumph of the long term working project they have been dedicated to.
