Having a good quality of life is a priority for many patients with complex diseases such as diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Dr Zimbudzi’s research demonstrated that optimising the ability of patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease to self-manage is associated with better quality of life. His research also provided insight into which groups of patients are likely to benefit more from self-management interventions. This knowledge will ensure that resources are directed to patients who need them most.
