Multiscale Characterisation of Reduced Graphene Oxide Assemblies

This work investigates the chemical composition and physical structure of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) assemblies. The results link the chemical composition of rGO to the synthesis procedure of the original GO and then build on this to design a physical model at the microscale. Small and wide angle scattering is used to characterise the structure at the meso- and macroscale. Many different processing conditions are examined, with a specific focus on the role of oxidation and drying. Further, 'in situ' experimental methods are used to investigate how the hydration level impacts the structure of rGO hydrogel films.
