This research is aimed to develop an advanced computational framework that includes intrinsic spatial and temporal scales. In this computational framework, a new continuum-based constitutive model with embedded discontinuity is developed and then incorporated into the mesh-free smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method, capable of handling problems involving complex fracture networks.
