This thesis examines the cross-cultural differences in the characteristics of and relationships between maternal reminiscing styles, child autobiographical memory and child socioemotional functioning. The findings of this thesis showed that different aspects of child autobiographical memory may be associated with different aspects of child socioemotional functioning. In addition, it identifies the pan-cultural influence of maternal emotional reminiscing on child memory elaboration and child prosocial behaviours.
